On 9 May 2026, the AVOR Symposium “AI in Medicine – Clinic X Data Science” took place at Bielefeld University. More than 100 participants from medicine, science, IT and data science came together to discuss current applications of artificial intelligence and the requirements for its meaningful use in everyday clinical practice.
The expert talks ranged from AI applications in hematology and oncology to epilepsy diagnostics, anesthesia and intensive care, and AI-supported analysis of lymphoma histology. Further topics included AI developments at Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel and ethical questions regarding the use of AI in patient care.
Clinician meets Data Scientist
A particular focus was on interdisciplinary exchange. In the second part of the event, “Clinician meets Data Scientist”, clinicians presented concrete problems from everyday medical practice and discussed them directly with data scientists. This gave rise to first ideas for possible joint projects.
The symposium was organized in cooperation between AVOR Medical Intelligence, Evangelisches Klinikum Bethel – University Hospital OWL and the Göttingen Campus Institute.
